The negative perks are well-balanced so that they're not frustrating or upsetting, but if you get too many of them, they get significantly worse. When you get corrupted enough, you'll gain a curse, which is a negative perk, that always comes with a positive upside. Simply put- you can obtain items and upgrades you don't have enough gold for by corrupting yourself. No story, which means it's not for everybody, I guess.Īlso, the corruption and curse system is fantastic. If you've played Spelunky, the development of your skills in this game is really comparable.Įvery enemy is very readable with telegraph cues, which is great for a game with tight combat like this. Combat is much more about knowledge and planning than it is about skill. This game is brilliantly designed, and it's easy to get good at. I'm disposed against roguelikes because we see them so often, but sometimes a game comes along and reminds me why it's a popular genre.
